Bernard Norman Marcantel was born in 1923 in Oberlin, Louisiana. He served in the American Armed Services from 1942-1946, in the European Theater of Operations. He received his B.S. from the Univeristy of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1946, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School in 1949. While at University of Chicago, Bernard served as the Associate Editor of the Law Review from 1947-1948. He received a second Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 1950.
Bernard has been an active member of the American Bar Association, the Bar of Louisiana, and the Jefferson Davis Parish Bar Association since 1950, and has been honored by the Louisiana Bar Association for more than 60 years in the practice of Law. He has been a member of the Bar of U.S. Court of Appeal, Fifth Circuit, since 1978. He served as the District Attorney for the 31st Judicial District from 1953-1978, and Judge for the City of Jennings from 1985-1993. He has also served as Judge Pro Tem for the 15th, 14th, and 36th Judicial Districts of Louisiana, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeal.
The founding member of the firm, Bernard has been practicing law in Louisiana since 1950, making Marcantel, Marcantel, Wall, and Pfeiffer the oldest law firm in Jefferson Davis Parish. He specializes in Wills, Successions, and Estate Planning.
David Emile Marcantel was born in 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his B.S. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1971, and his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 1976. He was admitted to the Louisiana Bar and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana, in 1976.
Since 2002, David has served as the Chief Public Defender for the 31st Judicial District of Louisiana. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Jefferson Davis Parish Bar Association, and The Louisiana Association for Justice. He has also been a state licensed title insurance Broker/Producer since 1982, and is an agent of First American Title Insurance Company.
David has engaged in the general practice of law since 1976, and specializes in Bankruptcy, Criminal Law, Successions, Wills, Estate Planning, Real Estate Sales, Mortgages and Donations.
Keith, a Jennings native, received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Louisiana Tech University in 1979, and his Juris Doctor in 1983 from Louisiana State University Law School. He is a member of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, Louisiana Association for Justice, Louisiana State Bar Association, and the Jefferson Davis Parish Bar Association. His primary practice areas are general personal injury, premises liability, business litigation, and medical malpractice.
Keith is licensed to practice in both State and Federal Courts in Louisiana, which has afforded him the ability to assist numerous individuals in a wide variety of personal injury cases.
Keith is married to Marcia Clark of Baker, Louisiana, and they have two children. They are members of Bethel Baptist Church. Keith is a private pilot and enjoys using his airplane for both business and personal transportation.
Marcia Graf Pfeiffer was born in Aurora, Illinois in 1950. At the age of 9, she and her family moved to Winter Park, Florida, where she was raised. She received a BA degree in Art Education through the School of Fine Arts at the University of Florida in 1972. In 1987, Marcia attended Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, where she received her Juris Doctor in 1991. During her senior year of law school she served as a member of Southern University Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Marcia clerked for two years at the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles, LA. While there, she clerked for Bernard Marcantel who had been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as Judge Pro Tem. Bernard asked her to join the law firm of Marcantel, Marcantel & Wall in 1993 as an associate. In 1998 she became a partner with the firm.
Marcia served as President of the Greater Jennings Chamber of Commerce in 2000. In 2001, she received the Southwest Louisiana Legal Services Society, Inc Pro Bono Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services. She has recently been appointed to the Jeff Davis Bank & Trust Advisory Board. She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Jefferson Davis Bar Association.
Marcia practices in the area of Family law, Real Estate, Wills, Successions and Corporations.
The daughter of Dave and Arlene Heinen of Hathaway, Lauren is a graduate of Welsh High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business at Louisiana State University. She earned both her Juris Doctorate and a degree in comparative law at LSU Law School. Lauren feels that the Jeff Davis Parish community played a huge part in molding her into the person she is today. To her, there is nothing more fulfilling than being able to serve the people who have believed in her from the beginning.
Daniel W. Sparks
Daniel W. Sparks was born in 1982 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Raised in Jennings since he was six years old, Daniel graduated from Jennings High School in 2001. He went on to McNeese State University where he in 2005 graduated with a B.S. in accounting with a minor in psychology. After graduating from McNeese, Daniel spent several years working as a landman throughout the State. In 2008, he attended Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, and graduated in 2011 with his Juris Doctor. He was admitted to the Louisiana Bar after successfully passing the Louisiana Bar Exam in 2011.
Daniel started as an associate lawyer with Marcantel, Marcantel, Wall and Pfeiffer on April 1, 2013. His areas of practice are family law, successions, and real estate. In July 2015 he became a public defender for the 31st Judicial District Court, Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana. Daniel W. Sparks is the son of Daniel Earl Sparks of Natchitoches, LA and the late Debra Streeter Sparks of Staten Island, NY. He lives in Jennings with his wife of seven years, Kimberly Nicole Sparks. They have three children.
